History of Microgaming
As they come, Microgaming began as an online casino. Indeed, the company claims that they were the first online casino. It’s hard to confirm this as an absolute fact, but they were certainly one of the first when they started in 1994. However, they soon decided that they would be more successful focused on developing casino games and licensing them to other online casinos.
As a result, they abandoned their own casino and focused on expanding their range of casino games and passing software to others. In 1996, their first licensee went live on the Internet and they were on the way. In the following years, they took on many licensees and made a name for themselves as a leading software provider.
